The Charter Examined the Complaint of Vice Primer Minister

Vice Prime Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili vs Eliso Kiladze, editor in chief at newspaper Kronika + In the article named “Corruption vs. Justice” a journalist blames Dimitri Kumsishvili in corruption and calls him “two-headed monster” of Georgian corruption who digs out the foundation of state budget. The material also says that Dimitri Kumsishvili ordered to discredit prosecutor’s office in the expertise conclusion about the case of murder of minors on Khorava St. The Council decided that none of the accusations were checked or proved. Journalist did not try to check the information or contact Dimitri Kumsishvili for the commentary. Therefore, Charter concluded that the first principle of the Charter was violated. The representative of the applicant attended the case hearing. Respondent journalist answered Council’s questions over the phone.
