The article in question was: “Temur Khubuluri: Judo players
should not stand in the street, they have to be in the hall, on
tatami”. Article said that the judo athlete demonstration was
organized by the parliament member Shota Khabareli. Applicant
denied that this was true. Charter got a response from ITV in
public (published on the web site), where they showed that they
concluded that the demonstration was organized by Shota Khabareli
based on different people’s personal opinions. None of the sources
contained verified information; therefore, Charter Council
concluded the violation of the first principle (accuracy).
Applicant representatives attended the hearing. Applicant answered
the questions via phone call as well. Itv.ge representative did not
attend the hearing or provide a name of the material’s author. Nika
Gurini’s concerns were answered on their webpage.
