Nodar Meladze did not violate Charter's 10th principle
10.11.2018

The material was about an accident in Tkibuli mine, in which several people died. The video showed one of the deceased person’s sister’s emotional response when vice Prime Minister came to the tragedy site. Applicant thought that 10th principle (privacy) was violated.

Council thought that in this case there was a significant public interest. Emotions of a sister obviously showed the tragically results of unsolved safety problems in Tkibuli and on the other hand it was clear that the government did not have any real responses on the accusations of people. Therefore ethical principles were not violated.

Only applicant attended the hearing. Journalist did not attend the hearing or provide any response.
