The applicant, NGO Association of Georgian Social Workers was displeased with the report in Kurieri news program aired on January 14. The material concerned registration of people in the database of socially vulnerable. This work is done by a social agent. The journalist referred to the responsible person as a social worker. The applicant believes institute of social workers needs strong support from the society and the government. Therefore, any mistakes which create negative attitudes towards this profession are a reason for a concern and the journalists must be very careful when working on these topics. The Council decided that the first principle was violated.

The incorrect term was used by the host too, but Tamta Dolenjashvili notified the Council that she prepared the text and it is her fault. As such, the Council did not consider that Tamar Baghashvili violated the CHarter’s principles. However, the Council noted that the host is not only a person who reads the text. She/he as a journalist should respect truth and the society’s right to get accurate information. The case was examined online.
