The publication concerned confrontation among school pupils and
homicide in Tbilisi, on Khorava street. The journalist, Lilu
Mirotadze used Facebook post by one of the close people to the
murdered teenager, which the applicant thought to be sexist. Only
the applicant, NGO Partnership for Human Rights attended the
hearing. The journalist sent her opinion to the Council. The
Council concluded that the journalistic product in question was
discriminatory as it strengthened the stigma that raising children
is the sole responsibility of women [mothers]. It holds a woman,
who is called a “mother of the murderer” responsible for what
happened. Therefore, it violated the seventh principle of the
charter, on discrimination. Eighth principle, on children’s rights,
was also violated, because the child in question was called a
“murderer” when the court had not ruled anything by then.
