Giorgi Gabunia in the piece about moving trees for Bidzina
Ivanishvili said that if Jesus Christ came to Adjara instead of
Israel in a couple of years, he would not have been nailed to cross
because every tree would be replanted by Bidzina Ivanishvili. The
applicant, Tornike Kakalashvili, thought that the text violated the
seventh principle of the Charter because it was discriminatory
towards Christians. The text prompted people to gather in front of
Rustavi2 and hold a demonstration. They used violence to pressure
the host. The Council concluded that there was no discrimination.
The comparison was made to criticize Bidzina Ivanishvili. While the
comparison may not have been relevant, Christians were not
presented in a negative light.
